Gorge Walking

Why choose Gorge Walking?

This is a really exciting activity and no two days in the gorge are the same. Your challenge is to overcome whatever nature puts in your way on a particular day. And to round it all off you can choose to jump from our specially erected cliff jump platform into the clear green waters of Killary Fjord. All ages from 8 years and up can enjoy this activity and our instructors will adapt it to suit your ability. Gorge walking is normally combined with kayaking in a 3-hour session so that you get the most out of your time with us and the price does not change. You can choose to do gorge walking only for 3 hours, but this will very much depend on the conditions.

What is involved:

One of the joys of the weather in this corner of Connemara is that our gorge is rarely lacking water! A gorge in the simplest terms is a crack in the mountain with a river running down through it. The Killary gorge walk takes you on an adventure through our private gorge climbing up the river, over rocks and through sparkling plunge pools and rushing waterfalls. Ropes have been set up to assist you and you will be wearing a wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet to allow you to swim, jump and climb with ease.

What to bring:

We will provide the wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet that you will be wearing for your gorge walk. You need to bring a swimsuit to wear under your wetsuit and an old pair of runners to protect your feet. We have a more extensive list of recommended gear for all our activities which is worth checking.

How to book:
