Our experienced instructors and up to date equipment make sailing easy at Killary. You could say that sailing is in our bloodstream with company director Jamie Young an experienced and renowned sailor and a passionate advocate for the sport. We have an ideal location on Killary Fjord combining both sheltered and more exposed stretches of water to suit the beginner sailor and the more experienced participant.
What is involved:
Killary offers dinghy sailing in Magnos and Omega boats. Single-hulled boats, they are fast and fun to sail. Their design allows for great speed combined with stability. Your instructor will tailor the sailing session to your ability and level of experience. They will introduce you to your equipment and teach you how to use it and also how to deal with the weather and sea conditions on the day.
Equipment:
All of the equipment you will require is provided by Killary Adventure Co. and this includes a wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet for you to wear. You will just need to bring your swimsuit and old shoes to wear in the water. More information on what to bring for all of our activities is available.
Who sailing is suitable for:
We are happy to teach children from 8 years and over but we do ask that an adult accompany those from 8 to 12 years. We cater for all levels of ability and this is an ideal introduction to the sport before joining a club or purchasing your own equipment. For those who have sailed before this can also be a way of improving skills and progressing your abilities.
