Water Skiing
There can be few more exciting feelings than rising out of the water on a pair of skis with the water rushing away from you and the roar of the speedboat engine in your ears. Finding your balance may need a bit of work but once you have mastered it the sense of joy and achievement is immediate!

What is involved:

Water skiing is a recreational sport enjoyed in lakes, rivers and the ocean. Here at Killary you are water skiing on the Killary Fjord. Its sheltered waters provide the ideal location for learning to ski and its stunning scenery will delight even the most experienced skier.

The skier is pulled behind a speedboat via a ski rope, zipping atop the water on one or two skis. Beginners generally learn on double skis, and then progress to a single ski. Water skis have rubber-moulded bindings to keep the feet in place. A good sense of balance and a strong upper body will really help you when water skiing.

Equipment:

Killary Adventure Co. has a range of speed boats and our experienced instructors will drive to accommodate your abilities. All equipment is provided as is your wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet so the only clothing you will need to bring is your swimsuit. As a sport water skiing is an expensive option to equip yourself for so coming to Killary gives you a really good idea of what is involved and allows you to improve your skills at a fraction of the cost.

Who it is suitable for:

Water skiing is only suitable for those aged 14 years and over as it does require a good level of upper body strength to bring you up on to the skis. It is popular with individuals, groups of friends and stag and hen party groups. For anyone who wants to try something new that they cannot do by themselves and that want to experience a huge adrenaline buzz then water skiing ticks all the boxes!
