Welcome to spring everyone! And it really does feel like spring this time. The evenings are getting longer and with the mild temperatures there is a definite lift to the season here at Killary. The schools are back in force which is always re-assuring with the same teachers returning year after year. We are getting lots of positive feedback from our new-look stags and hens website and we are very hopeful that it will help fill our weekends. We are now exploring the possibility of offering Galway-stay packages similar to our existing Westport-stay packages for stag and hen groups.
Killary Adventurers - The official update
Meanwhile, the ever-adventurous Killary family are forging ahead with their personal adventures! Shane Young is continuing with his training plan for the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Challenge which is happening at Easter. You can continue to follow Shane's training and preparations on his blog from now until race day. Shane's Dad Jamie is getting close to re-launching the Killary Flyer for the Round Rockall Sailing Race in June 2012. Jamie's long and exciting history in the adventure industry and his innovation in setting up the biggest one-day adventure race in Europe in Gaelforce West was featured recently in the Irish Examiner. It really is an inspiring story and worth the read!

Film-making at Killary
Not what you might expect to see on the Killary newsletter but yes there are quite a lot of cameras and budding actors around Killary at the moment. We have just finished making a video for our stags and hens website and now we are on to making one for the schools programme with a group of local teenagers signed up to participate.
There is also a really novel video in the pipeline from Connemara Adventure Tours starring the Killary Activity Manager Peter who also appeared in our Turf Guy video and is proving quite the actor! Keep an eye on the websites to check out the results.
But don't worry, adventure is still our main concern!!
